Through producing our short film, poster and radio advert we have used a number of different softwares, websites and pieces of technology.

I used the Panasonic AG- HMC70 HD camera to film all but one sense within in our film. We choose to use this camera as a better quality can be acheived. We also have included tacking shot within our film and by using this camera the footage is less bumpy. I used the Panasonic GS230 DV for the bullying film as the other camera was not avalible, it also meant that transporting the camera through the forest was easier. I used a Breyer Mic.

To caputure the footage we used an a Apple i-Mac G5 computure to convert .mts files to .mov files which could then be edited on Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 on a normal computure. We decied to use Adobe Premiere Pro because it is formilier, easy to use and has a large collections of effects that we used in are film.

I exsperimented on Adobe After Effects for tiltes though used other resorcued to do this on Adobe Photoshop, which we also used to create the poster.

We also used a number of different website like YouTube for reasearching into short films, freesound and Jamendo for music and sounds and the wordpress for our blogs. We then used scripped to write the script.

We have now shown our film to an audience of 30 who were kind enough to give us feedback.

A big point that occured a lot was whether they liked the flash ahead and flashback transition used throughout the film. There was mixed veiws whether they liked this transition or not as it is not the normal transition though there were more that liked this than not, so we will keep it. We used this because show Sians disorientation of her mind as well as showing her torn personality. I  saw this technique used in a film called Easyrider (1969) directed by Dennis Hopper. The characters in this film are drugged up most of the time so they use this transition instead to bridge scenes and disorient the audience. If I was working for a commercial organization then this type of editing style and most likely film would have to play more to conventions in order to sell well at all.

Some members of the audience also said that they would need to watch it more than once in order to get the complexness of the chacters that reflect different aspects of Sian. For example Angus uses the same line ‘Get here now!’ that he father uses in the first flashback. We have used this to show that Sian has manisfested a charcter in her mind that represents her father, we have done this for each charater in our film. We like this aspect of our film, making it simple to watch the first time through though watching it more the audience can see the complexity of the peice.

A point raised was that some of the dialogue was not as clear as it could be.  In some areas of the film it could be clearer, for example the  diagetic sound like rain in two senses. We have tried our best to make sure that the dialogue can be heard in all the film and i think we have acheived this to an extent, though if we were working for commericall reasons this would have to be much better.

Another point raised was that our characters and general storyline were beleivable and the audience thought that it was realistic. Which we were glad to hear. We tried hard with Mise- en – sense like costumes and lighting and location inorder to make it as belivable as possiable. to enhancethis we also choose our actors for their age around our leading actress which makes the story more beleivable. Too older actors may not be too beleivable either especially as it was the mum who died. We think we have chosen right here and that the character age wise is capable to make this rash decision in her life. Some mentioned that our characters were quite likeable which is also another great comment! We especially wanted to acheive this with our character Angus who we hoped people would like even though he isnt the nicest of the characters in the film.

This audience feedback would be crucial for larger screening companies within the film industry, inorderto reach their target audience to judge the editing, whether they would need to reshoot or rewrite the film. They would do this even if the film was not complete just to get the main overview. They would then change the film to reach their commerical needs to their target audience. We have taken this very seriously as well and we are happy with our audience feedback and will keep the film the same, though we would change parts even if we were not happy about it if it meant our film would be seen by a wider audience/make more money.

We have choosen this poster as it clearly represents the film the best. The background on the cliff with waves bracking underneath it gives a clear shot of our last sense, though does’t give anything away. As well as fading the characters out as part as Sain selfconus. We also prefer the arrangement of the tiltes and it clear about what it is with out giving to much away.

Here are two of our posters that we have produced.

The poster to the left is taken from our footage. Sian here is not walking anywhere which we dont like as it doesnt really show much about the film because she’s meant to be walking all through it. However we liked the shot as light and shadow add a good effect. This could be seen signifigante as most of her life could be seen to be dark and shadowed like the image, though there is bursts of light which could signafy the characters in our film that bring hope and faith. You also get the feeling of here lounlyness, which is a key point to her mental stablility.

 We decided with both of our posters that we would use the same lettering that we do in our titles for the same reasons as before. For the poster to the left we don’t like the positioning of the actors names though i think the film name and slogan are in the right place.

Our 2nd poster on the right you can see all our main characters at the cliff we faded them out so that we could draw more attention to Sian in the middle which is vital to the image on the poster and also makes the poster more interesting to look at. As well as being significante to our film and questions whether they are realy there it adds mystery and intruge to our film. However this could be interped that they are ghosts which is not what we want.

The same titles have been used but put in a different arrangement which is more typical of film posters. The title and the slogan are placed above the characters and are quite central this grabs the attention to the characters as we don’t want to give to much away.

For our slogon we have decied to use “Would You Take This Shortcut?” as a ritorical question to draw the audience in. It also does not givetoo much away adding to the mystery.

With our radio advert we wanted to make it so that people aren’t at all sure of what the film is about thus creating an interest in our film so people will want to watch it to satisfy their curiousity, this coincides with our poster which also, doesnt give much away about our film, so overall there wont be much clear until the release which by then we would have generated interest through the aspects of it.

Katie M has been doing the radio advert, Katie K and me have been editing the film as well as doing posters and evalutive tasks.

We have chose this style generaly because we liked the effect form doing the mood bourd. Though it also signafices as the different characteristics and parts of  Sains being can be seen in the indivial letters, then  grouped together to make the whole being/ word.
